WHAT IS AYURVEDA?
Ayurveda means “Knowledge of Life” and is a precise science in itself based on ancient “vedic philosophies” with over 3000 years of practice to date. It is not only a “medicine” but a complete guide to life based on a holistic philosophy. Ayurveda is still taught in India and consists of nine different medical paths e.g. general pathology, pediatrics, surgery.
Ayurvedic medicine provides a unique approach to maintain good health and healing. According to its concepts there are three different elements called “doshas” (Vaata, Pitta and Kapha). Each person has an individual combination of these three elements which reveals personality, preferences and health conditions. The basic objective of Ayurveda is to keep these three doshas in balance through-out lifetime.
Ayurvedic medicine offers a broad range of treatments including herbal preparations, dietary and lifestyle changes, Yoga and meditation exercises, massages as well as different detoxification cures (Panchakarma).
